MICRÓPOLIS
Micropolis explores the ways people appropriate spaces, and raises some questions about how large cities have tried to solve the increasing demand for affordable living accommodations by building low cost housing projects.
The installation consists of 6 structures representing buildings that have windows one can look through to see a variety of scenes from everyday urban life. The cables and clotheslines running between the buildings are strung with laundry and some signs of what went on the night before.
The viewer can walk around, open the windows, look inside and touch. The size of the structures and the mixture of techniques and materials –concrete, iron, acrylic, wood, silk-screening, ceramic enamel– evoke the sensations of any crowded city street.

MICRÓPOLIS

Micrópolis explora las formas en que las personas se apropian de los espacios, y cuestiona la solución que se ha dado a la demanda de vivienda en las grandes ciudades, a través de conjuntos de bloques residenciales de bajo costo.
La instalación consta de seis estructuras que representan edificios con ventanas, dentro de las cuales suceden situaciones de la vida cotidiana en la ciudad. Entre los edificios penden los trapitos al sol, los cables de luz, los rastro de la noche pasada.
El espectador puede transitar y abrir las ventanas, asomarse, tocar. La escala de la obra y la mezcla de materiales y técnicas -concretos, hierro, metacrilato, madera, serigrafía, esmalte cerámico- nos recuerdan cualquier calle llena de gente.
